Governor Holcomb Extends Public Health Emergency – WKVI Information Center – wkvi.com

Governor Eric Holcomb signed Executive Orders Saturday that extends the public health emergency for another 30 days.  This is the 20th extension of the public health emergency.

The new orders remove the direction for hospitals to consider reprioritizing or postponing non-emergent procedures, the reporting requirements for hospitals about diversion, and the direction to the Indiana Department of Insurance to request that insurers extend prior authorization for non-emergent surgeries or procedures that are postponed and prior authorizations for the transfer or discharge of patients.

The Governor also authorized a provision to allow the health commissioner to issue a standing order for the administration of COVID-19 immunizations to children under the age of 11 when the CDC approves a vaccine for children ages 5-11.

The Executive Orders remain in effect until December 1.
